General Omar Bradley

World War II, Americans were engaged principally in two major theaters: the Pacific and the Atlantic-Mediterranean. The latter involved North Africa and Europe - and General Omar N. Bradley.

In the last year of the war, June 1944 to May 1945, he commanded the Twelfth Army Group in western Europe. After the war he served as the first chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

He accumulated photos from various military sources during the European Theater of Operations. At retirement, he passed this collection on to a young friend, Sergeant John Mladinich. In 2004, John decided to fulfill a promise to himself to share the General's collection with the world.

From this collection, photographs were selected and arranged as an album with historical text and presented in this volume, fulfilling that promise. It is a tribute to General Bradley, his peers, and those who were with them through hell.

Since most of the photos are from 1944-45, Europe and the text sketches the entire war, the two are presented independently in this book.

"General Bradley could not be presented better in photo and word than Greenwell has accomplished in this excellent volume."

Major General Albino Hopkins, MSARNG, (ret)
